My life is now entering a new season. Paula the love of my life and my soul mate has went to glory. Yes, I am still grieving and is getting better. I make be cast down today, but I am not destroyed. Soon I will take a new journey forward, by living with out my blessed wife. The Bible tells us that he that is married should do the things needed to please his wife, and that I have done for 12 years. Now it also says, he that is not married does the things to please God. I have a new lease on life, and I will devote myself to preaching, singing, and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ...louder, stronger, and bolder than ever.

I have a message to everyone:

to my childern:

Cricket....you overcome any circumstance with God, and don't let the naysayers get to you...remember God is in control.
Bub....don't dwell on past regrets, keep God close to your heart.....
Ian...remember you are special and don't hold your emotions in because of fear..perfect love cast's out fear.
Isaiah....Daddy is here and will always remind you of your mommy who prayed you back to life.
Kassie....you are Daddy's Girl and will always be Mommy's baby....remember the good times
Brandon....Remember you Mom was just like spiderman.....AMAZING
Nathan.....Love see past anger and fear.....and God will help you
jj....You will see mommy again...just squeeze your bear when you want a hug
Joesph.....Keep laughing...for the joy of the Lord is my stregth.

Mommy told Kassie don't get mad at God, he needed mommy to work in Heaven's Kitchen and nursery.

I warn those of you who speak evil of Paula to my children and the decision we have made they are not taken lightly and they hurt. However never judge a man until you walk in there shoes.

Christians keep praying will be home soon.

Pressure Cooker World

Sometimes it seems that life is nothing but one stress filled day after another. We fill like we under so much pressure, we can't get ahead. Just like cooking with a pressure cook as the pressure mounts up we become sensitive and tender. The key is not opening a pressure to soon and having the cooker blow up. I want to be in the saftey of God's care so I don't blow up no matter how much pressure comes my way

I relize it has been awhile since I have blogged my friends. My life has really become complicated since my last blog. However God is still amazingly good, no matter how stressful life becomes. So I plan on blogging at least once a week but hopefully some everyday. I am going to use this as an outlet for some of my thoughts on life, the Bible, and whatever else.

Just thinking on some things...

I have a hard time understanding some people and churches. Don't get me wrong, I am not a negative person and I am not on here to criticize. Someone was telling me about a church who had a dictitorial pastor. He did not want his people to visit other churches (even on nights there church had no services). He also rebuked his people for missing church even if it was worked related.

Now look each pastor/church leader has to do what they feel in there heart. However, scripture teaches it better to have a millstone around your neck than hurt one of God's children. Too many good people have left churches because they got hurt or ordered around. Look no man of God wants anyone to miss church or to leave there home church. However, if you rail on people, your not gonna to keep them.

The church's that have a controlling spirit, only end up hurting themselves.

May I be committed to love unconditionally. May I be certain that my church family will stick in my church, even if they visit other churches,

It is a pastor/church leader's job to encourage people and not make them feel inferior or inadequate.
Yes, there will be times of chastisement, but if administered in love it will work. If it is administered in arrogance it will only result in trouble.

May we learn to love and except people for who they are, and let God do the clean up.

I remember as a boy the power of God moving in our services. It was nothing to see people shout and give real praise to the Lord. Men and women would cry and fall under the power of the Holy Ghost. We would see people come of the streets under conviction, and repent of there sins. We used to say the church was on fire. I remember my Dad would preach and things would happen. It was not unusual to see the manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit. Sadly these things that was the norm in my childhood.........have turned into the rarely seen in most churches.

Churches that we would attend and visit as boy, now are closing. The older saints have died off, and there are no children to fill there vacancies. Those old praying grandma and grandpa are become few and far between. God is calling that older generation home....and someone has to stand in the gap and make up the hedge.

I look at the MISSION...and I can see a people hungry for God. We are not perfect and this is not a perfect church. However, God calls us to endure until the end. We don't see much endurance in the church world today. In the day of fast food and fast living, people want a fast service and a quick move of God. God does not move when we want, and it is not always quick. There are times God wants us to wait, so our faith can build up.

Sunday night I saw a new wave of the THEN...NOW. Don't get me wrong I have seen real moves of God. I have even seen the supernatural. Yet, God is pleased with a unified body. That what we have at the mission. We have learned that there are no big U's and little i's. Everyone is equal and entitled to take there liberty in the Lord (as long as it's in order). God moved in waves of Glory. A real power was viewed and I pray that those touched by God have continued to move in Him. I can't wait till tomorrow night to see what God is going to do next at the MISSION. Just watch and see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our President

I have not said anything about President Obama, because I believe this is who God has destined for this time. We are told to honor the king in scripture and the powers that be are ordained of God. So from that view point I thought to say "If you can't say anything good don't say nothing at all!" However there are few things I would like to say about our president.

First, I would like to say it is a historical moment that we have the first black president. However this is still a racial issue, until it doesn't matter what race our president is. According to his own heritage President Obama is bi-racial having a Caucasian mother and an African father. I'm sure all African Americans feel somewhat vindicated for the plight there ancestors suffered.

This said; let’s go on to my second point. We have a man who is president that is a generic "talker". His campaign was based on very little specifics. He is doing the same thing since coming in the white house. He offers an executive order (which means he is suppose to draft this himself) and signs it, but doesn't know what it included in it. He repeals laws that limit abortion. He has proposed a large spending bill that is suppose to be a stimulus package. Thank God the GOP is sticking together on opposing this one. This is the same old liberal democrat politics and we will see more of this in his remaining time in office. I am not saying President Obama is not a nice, knowledgeable man. However he is not my choice and his policies are bad for America. My children and grandchildren will be paying for all his and this liberal congress policies.

Now, spiritually...He claims to be a Christian, yet part of his heritage is Muslim. By no means am I saying that he is a Muslim, but I feel he may be able to sympathize with this faith. I don't care if it was President Bush, President Obama, or Rev. Billy Graham, the Muslim religion is false doctrine and heresy. Yes, all Muslims have freedom of religion to practice there faith in America, and I have no problem with this. I have the freedom to practice my faith. However, the religion is a religion of hate. I understand not all Muslims are radical or terrorists, but there Holy Book the Koran is instilled with teachings of Jihad and hate. We don't need a sympathizer in the White House. (I really do believe we will see this eventually.)

Lastly, let’s look at the meaning of his 3 names. Barack means a lighting flash. Some have mistakenly have said his name means blessed, this is not true. Hussein means small and handsome. Obama means crooked. I believe some names have great meaning. Is it a coquincidence names means these things. President Obama came on the scene quickly like a flash of lighting. I really believe his presidency will also be a quick one (one term). I also believe he is small in the eyes of people. What I mean by small is that his persona is a common man. However he is far from common, being a community organizer (lobbyist) and Harvard grad. He also has a handsome package. Not just a nice looking gentleman, he also come off with a nice handsome package. He has a beautiful wife and two little girls. He speaks eloquently. He is a good communicator. Yet there is no substance to most things he says. Obama means crooked or bent. I think this sums up President Barack Hussein Obama. He is somewhat bent in his look at America. It is as if a site on gun is bent, even if you aim for the bull’s eye the site will throw you off.

I want you to think of the story of Barack in scripture. He was called of God to lead his chosen people, but would not step up to the challenge. God had to send a woman Deborah to be the judge of Israel and lead the people to victory. (I hope we see a repeat of this story, but our Deborah may have the name "Sarah".) I really believe President Obama is comparable to Barack in scripture. He looks for the approval of someone else. He will not go out and make a decision for himself. Watch his presidency over the next four years and see what I mean.

With all this said, I believe we as Christian are called to pray for President Obama and our government. We want God's perfect will for the United States. This could be a great time of revival for our country. When someone is in office so anti-Christian in there policies we need to stand up by falling to our knees. Now, God may have let us have President Obama to allow this country to see some hard times (especially financially and morally), so we can have a revival. All we can do is pray!

God promised he would pour out his Spirit in these last days. It just pays to be ready. God Bless President Barack Obama and God Bless America. Even So Lord Jesus Come Quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As most of you know my wife Paula has heart failure. The doctors have told us she needs a heart transplant. However, there is a new procedure called the heart net. The pic is shown at the left. We discover this just this week and there is a clinical trial right here in Cincinnati. We have already talked with the research center and are waiting to here if Paula is eligible. Please keep this in your prayers, as this may be a way to help her health.

Christ tests new heart net

An experimental device being studied at Christ Hospital aims to strengthen hearts damaged by congestive heart failure.
Doctors at the Mount Auburn hospital are recruiting patients for a clinical trial of Paracor Medical Inc.'s HeartNet device, which one doctor likened to support hose for the heart.
In congestive heart failure, the left ventricle - the heart's main pumping chamber - can no longer pump enough blood to deliver adequate oxygen throughout the body.
The HeartNet, made of a smart alloy mesh, is permanently implanted around the pumping chambers. The mesh gently constricts around the heart, compressing it to help it pump more efficiently, said Eugene Chung, principal investigator for the Lindner Research Center at Christ Hospital.
"It provides a little bit of support for the heart so it doesn't dilate as much," he said.
Doctors hope the device will slow the heart's deterioration, preventing the need for more drastic treatments - including transplant surgery.
Gary Carpenter, 62, of Guilford, Ind., underwent surgery in October to receive the implant. He learned that he had congestive heart failure in 1999 and was forced to retire early from his job driving a truck as he grew weaker.
"I'm feeling a lot better with it," Carpenter said. "I had a lot of breathing problems before I had it in there. I couldn't hardly walk around the house, but now, I'm walking out to the mailbox every day, which is 70, 75 yards from the house."
Doctors showed him a model of the HeartNet shortly before his surgery. "You look at a roast with that string netting on it, that's what it looks like, really," he said.
Chung and surgeon Thomas Ivey are heading up the local arm of the HeartNet trial.
Ivey said the HeartNet could prevent the need for more invasive surgeries.
The device is implanted around the heart through a small incision made under the left breast. Surgeons use a tiny plunger-like device to guide the implant to the heart, then wrap it around.
Earlier versions of the technology required a major incision and were rejected by the Food and Drug Administration.
In the trial, patients will be assigned at random to receive the implant or to receive standard medication therapy.

Bragging on the Church

I feel we have the best church around. I know I'm biased, yet our service this past Sunday night made me proud. Our church is not just a building, but it is people who really love one another. The Spirit was really high last night through out the whole service. My wife, Paul had come and she was feel really bad. Our pastor and saints, stopped the normal flow of the service to minister to my wife and love and encourage her. That's all it took. The power of God's love flowed through everyone in the church. Even those who had not been coming long, came an prayed with a heart of love of compassion. They not only prayed for my wife, they came and prayed for me, understanding what a load I have been under. This caused the whole church to really unify themselves. Our pastor Bro Wayne, exhorted a little and had Paula testify, as best she could. Then instead of dismissing service, he said there were others who lives needed to be touched, just like mine. He told the congregation, who ever needed to be dismissed they were free to go and then called for those who wanted prayer to come in the altar. The whole church flooded the altar, and what started with my wife, broke out for everyone. That's God at work. That is taking the scripture when one rejoices we all rejoice and when one weeps we all weep. That is comforting and caring for those weaker than us. What a great testimony for our church. I am looking for great things from the Mission.

A New Year....A New Season

I thought about titling this blog I made it through the holidays. December was crazy, and that is an understatement.

In one week we had a school nurse file bogus charges with Child Protective services that Isaiah and Joseph was not getting proper care. It was totally false and the nurse has been reprimanded. A couple of days later Nathan did not get off the bus. We called the school and they did not know where he was. It was a little over and hour before we found him. He had gone home with a little boy at the school. This in turn caused Paula's nerves to be frazzled. She didn't sleep right for over a week. Then Robert had to start, and make his mom almost lose it. Finally, Paula went to the hospital a few days before Christmas. They gave her some new meds and that seems to be working.

Christmas was great. We had 3 different times to open presents. The Newport Fire Department adopted our family this year. Santa and 40 firefighters came to my house Christmas Eve night. You can imagine big, tough fire men crying along with my family. Our kids were really blessed.

They left and Santa came again (our family's Christmas). Then we found out Paula's adopted parents were coming to KY. Friday morning Christmas came again with Grammy and Grandpa.
It was a good Christmas.

New Years I got to sing with my buddy Richard. Rich came to the Mission and we had a great service. I came home from Church and celebrated with my family.

Now all that brings us to the present. God is so good to us. No matter what valleys or storms we may go through, we have the promise of the Father. If we endure to the end we will be saved. That is assurance to be proud of.

Finally a new Blog

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. I have indeed a lot to be thankful for this year. We have had a host of ups and downs this year, but God has always been faithful.

Moving...Moving...Moving
I am so tired of trying to get everything moved in the new house. With a little help from my friends, I should have everything out of the house Saturday. Please pray that I can get everything done.

Our Van is in the shop, we should get it back after the holiday. We were on our way to church Sunday and the engine light came on, and it did not want to pull. The service people told us it needed new plugs and wires.

God is still blessing and I can't be thankful enough.

One more thing, Paula spoke at church Tuesday night. She did a great job, and I am so proud of her.

Changes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of things have been changing in my life over the past couple of weeks. God has really been moving for our family, and I publically want to say thank you Lord for your many blessings.

Our good friend Paul is selling us his Mom's house and with that we are indeed blessed and thankful. With every good change comes unexpected things and we have been having them too. Some things need work in the house, but at least I can fix them myself and don't have to wait for six months like at the last placed we rented.

We are still moving, hopefully be done this week. We are in the new house, just have to get little odds and ends. We needed a gas stove in this house and was having a hard time getting one...then I got on craigslist and found a nice one for free. See how God blesses us. We still need to get rid of the electric stove we have, but that will come. We have to get a new water heater this week, so pray we find a good one...Cheap!!!!!!!!!!!

Special thanks to my buddy...KENNY....He is a plumber and good friend who has been helping me fix the plumbing. I also want to thank Paul for willing to sell us the hosue and Norman for helping me move.

The kids love the new house, Robert has his own little apartment upstairs and he loves that.

So in just a month, we have a home, a better Van, and in a few months, after getting caught up,we will have more money each month. God is Great!!!

Last but not least.... our daughter Jessica just found out she is having a baby. Her fiance' also has a little girl that is 4 years old. It looks like me and Paula are offical grandparents. (Even though I'm way too young to be called Grandpa!!!)

As more happens and time permits I will update later. Keep us in your prayers that we can get everything done ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Under Attack

Lately, it seems that many close to me are under attack. Yet even though the enemy may hurl his firey darts at us, they are quenched by the anointing of our faith. Thank God that in the mist of all the caos the devil throws at us, our weapons are not weak, but our powerful through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I've read the back of the book and we win. The enemy may advance toward us, but our God can bring him down to size.

Please take the time to help in this warfare by getting on your knees and interceding.

Several Prayer Requests....

Just a quick blog to ask those of you who believe in prayer to remember Paula in prayer. She was at church Sunday night and her defibulator fired six times. She is in the hospital, doing good...just tired and sore. Please keeps the kids in your prayers especially Kassie as they are having a hard time without Mommy.

There are two others from our church who also are in the hospital. Rosie, our pastor's mom, had surgery last week and needs prayer for strength and healing. Nancy, our minister of music's wife, is also in the hospital. Please keep these are there families in your prayers.

A Great Service last night

We had our first communion and foot washing service at the MISSION last night. We really had a great service. It seemed that everyone came with a heart to worship. Most participated in both sacraments of the church. We also had 4 baptized in water on Sunday afternoon. We are seeing the Lord really move in our church. I can't wait till the next service Thursday. I'm looking for a real breakthrough for the entire congregation.

The Debate

Now one of my good friends...(Paul) suggested I had a mysterious illness called Palinitis last night. Not true....but I did watch the debate. In my book Palin won hands down. However, I will say Biden did not stick his foot in his mouth last night. The only thing I didn't like about Biden is he never addressed his comments to Governor Palin. He made his comments to the pro-Obama moderator.

Palin showed she could stand her ground with the best of them. Biden is a well respected senator (even though I disagree with his politics). Palin did not seem like she was out of her league. No major momment, but a good debate.

McCain also agreed to let her come out and begin to be the attack dog and make herself known over the next 31 days.

On a special note, fox showed a pic of Governor Palin praying before coming out to do the debate... She is a class act.

37 and holding!!!!

A good friend of mine, who's name is Paul, emailed me on my B-DAY. He told me I was one year closer to being approved for AARP. I love special thoughts from such sweet people. I may be getting older, but I still have a real zest for life....even if I don't show it as much as I should.

Now on to bigger and better things----
Have you ever had a bad day....the Day after my 37 BDAY was horrible. I woke up sick. Then I had to be at Kassie school for lunch (I didn't feel like but I pushed. The things we do for our kids.) I had a horrible headache and had to take some Aleve. Then I walked out of the house without my keys. (Paula was at school.) There was no spare key. I had to try to break in my own house. I opened the laundry room window climbed up on 2 cinder blocks, to discover I was too fat to squeeze through the window. Thank God, my neighbor pulled up (he is skinny). He went throught the window for me and unlocked my door. I grabbed my keys and went to the school. Kassie is having attachment issues and fear of being locked in a room. So please pray for this situation. I am having to stay at the school most of the day. Then I got home and felt so bad took a quick nap. I woke feeling worse. I stayed home from church last night...a real bummer!!!(Even though Wayne was preaching...LOL!!)

The only good thing was the debate last night between Palin and Biden...this brings me to my next post!!!!!

Jesus Fest

We had a wonderful Jesus Fest this past Saturday. It was great time of fun and fellowship!!!! Great people came together to make this a great event. We had so many that help make this Jesus Fest, a real joyous time. I've been to many church events and something always goes wrong or tention can be come very high. Yet, always was fairly good. We had no major crisis and a lot of wonderful comments.
We had just a fine array of music and plenty of food. Those who worked with us in the drama, did a outstanding job. May God always place. Check the church website for pics.

Just Thinking

Reading a blog by my friend Paul, got me to thinking. Sometimes we can forget how faithful God is and has been in our lives. Most people who know me, understand that I have been in church all of my life. I started preaching the gospel at age 14. I served with Dad in his church over 10 years. I started working in children's ministry then worked my way to associate pastor before my father's death. In all this time I remember how faithful God was to me. Yes, there were times I questioned WHY? There were times I got wore out. I remember once instance, when I felt God tell me, all that I was doing was becoming work and not service. I started laying done jobs that I had not asked for. I am sure you can understand being a pastor's son and a minister alot of the tasks fell on me.

God adventually opened a door for me. I walked out on faith!!!! I felt the call to go to WV and start a church. It just seemed to me there was a Macedonian call for me to go there. God opened door after door for me. I was able to see great miracles. The ministry God had committed me with excelling. Then through some circumstances I met Paula, who would become my wife. Little did I know when I left KY to go to WV this established bachelor for the Lord, would change his mind.

Since then everything has not been peaches and cream, but God has blessed us. I have had the privilige of seeing God do some great things. I pray I always live up to that standard of faith.

Sometimes the faith walk, is just stepping out not knowing where your going...just knowing God is with you.

God is so Good

Many times I get on here and it seems I'm complaing. Sometimes, I do vent on this blog. Yet, I want to tell you how great and awesome our God is. There is no stopping what he will do for his children. In time of trouble, he is an every present help. He is worthy of all praise. He gets me up in the morning and takes care of my family. He has given the precious gift of Salvation and the Holy Ghost. Like the old spiritual song says He's done so much for me I can not tell it all. What an amazing God we serve. Remember no matter what your problems, he can lift you up to soar above the trials. One of my life verses is Isaiah 40:31. Just like the eagle we can rise above it all.

The mean smears toward the Palin Family

Saturday Night Live is the newest to smear the Palin family. In a skit on this past Saturday's broadcast, two reporters made reference to Todd Palin having incestous relations with his daughters. Now come on, how low will they go to smear this family.

I think they are so scared of this articulate lady and her normal middle class family, they are shaking in there boots. They are afraid of her because she goes against everything a "woman" is suppose to believe in. They don't know what to do with one as conservative and pro-family as she is. She went from PTA Mom to Governor of her state. That's a great acomplishment.

I think this lady will be a breath of fresh air for America.

What is the church?

I have been doing some thing and study on really what is a church suppose to be.

I have been in the church all my life. I have seen God in many different prespectives. I was raised in the Church of God, Cleveland Assembly. My Dad preached in a lot of independent churches and even pastored a few that held to mainline, conserative holiness tradition. I saw how the two types of churches operated. They had some similarites, but also some major differences. I became acustom to the Church of God. They seemed to be more family oriented. The pentecostal churches put a greater emphasis on the gifts of the Spirit and physical manifestations.

Then when I became a teenager, I went to a southern Baptist High School for one year. That was long enough for me. They seemed to be more ridged in there worship style. I finished my high school years at a Pentecostal High School and seen another world of Pentecostals. They were not of the holiness doctrine. What the holiness people would call worldly, beacause of there dress code.

Each one of these churches had there own tradition. When I started preaching, you name I've proably been to many mainline denomations. I have preached in churches from Baptist and Methodist to Holiness and Apostolic. However in all my years of being in church, I find church is define differently by all these labels.

When we go to church, the first thing on our mind ought to be worship. It should be a place to commune with God and fellow believers. It should be a place were everyone feels accepted. However, it should be a place that still has the convicting power in the service. The service should be uplifting. God is a good who encourages his people. He does not want his people to come to church and leave feeling worse.

When you come to church have a praise on your lips. Have joy in your heart. Don't let situations hinder your relationship with God.

Editorial Cartoon and Election Smears have me Outraged!

I apologize for the curse word in the above cartoon. Yet, when I saw this I was really upset. Anyone who knows me for long, will understand I am an advid follower of poltics and a committed Republican. However, that does not make me demean others. This cartoon was a ment as a smear on Sarah Palin. It was to show her as some sort of irrational person, following some fringe/cultic religion.

Sarah Palin is refreshing. I believe she is such a normal person, that the media and the democratic elite don't know what to make of her. They are trying to get some dirt or discredit her everyway they can. What is really shocking is how women have done a 180 turn on having a woman as the top 2 in the county.

Then Mr. Pat Oliphant makes this slanderous cartoon. It not only be littles Pentecostals but all Christians. It slanders God Almighty. I am amazed at the brazeness of some people. Who would ever think of such a blasphemous cartoon.

If you remember a year ago about the anti-Muslim editoral cartoons. They cause all types of outrage in the world. There were riots in the middle east. Yet this blantant attacks go unchallenge by most Christians. It seems the only religion that can get persecuted in this country with out fear of outcry in the Prostant Church.

Poltics have stooped to a new level. These attacks make me sick. We really need to pray for our country.

Our church is energized!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night we had our first service at our new location on Turkeyfoot. We are using the Open Door Church of God to hold services on Sunday and Thursday Evening at 7PM. Did we have a blow out service last night. God really moved last night and we felt like we were home. Plenty of room to worship. We seen people shout all over the church last night. Paul Estep led worship last night and with him on keyboard, Johnathn on guitar, Findley on bass and John on Drums, we showed that we have a great band. God is really touching lives. We see people happy and smiling that we have seen the joy of the Lord in for awhile. I was feeling poorly, but I pushed to be there. I can't wait for Thursday, I be feeling better and hopefully pumped and prayed up. Thanks to all the folks at Open Door for letting us use this facility.

McCain does more than balance the ticket with a woman. He solves his complicated religious problem with Pentecostals, who according to a recent Barna survey make up almost half of all born again Christians. McCain’s on again off again relationships with John Hagee and Rod Parsley, as well as the ill timed Charles Grassley attack on six Pentecostal television ministries are now moot points.

But wait until MSNBC find out. Expect all hell to break loose. She will be portrayed as a pro creationist - Neanderthal. Just wait. And, as well intentioned as they will be, thinking that they are doing Obama a good deed, it will drive the Evangelicals into the McCain camp. All of Senator Obama’s kind overtures to people of faith will be for naught.

This is turning out to be a better choice than I thought.

If your tired of the poltics already this election season, today should have excited you! We got the VP pick for John McCain is Sarah Palin the governor of Alaska. This is real hope and real change. I know many may not like the idea of a woman on the ticket, who could have the potential of being president. I am not bothered by the fact that she is a woman. I am very please with her conservative pro-life values. This lady may be the change and the hope that the GOP really needs.

We still need to pray for this country and this election, for it has the potential of being the crazy election ever.

Prayers Answered and more prayer requests

Just like the heading says, this blog about answered prayer and new prayer requested.
God always hears our prayers and in my last post I told of how our church was growing. Well it looks like we may have a church to worsjip in. We will be using another church's facilities on Sunday and Thursday night. I'll post more later on the actual building, dates, and times. So one prayer answered.

Now a new prayer request. My mom is having severe pain in her left arm. She broke it about 30 years ago with a bad open fracture. She had surgery bak then. She just found out that there is some deformity in her arm and that is what causing the pain. She's worried about what they might have to do to try and fix the problem. She also has severe arthritis. So please keep her in your prayers.

We are seeing great things happen at our church. We have had 14 saved this month, and last night we had almost sixty people and some of our regulars weren't there.

Well, the kids went back to school today. They all did great. There was no tears from anyone including Paua. Paula and I went to the Sandford house in Covington (one of the oldest houses in COV). She took some great pics. I was really surprised to see such a beautiful house on Russel Street in Covington. I upload a pic later.

Paula is really getting into this photography. I'm glad to see her really take interest in something and go with it. It gives her something to do.

We haven't heard anymore on Paula's heart, but she has been doing great lately.

We should find out this weekend who Obama's VP will be. We will find out next week who Mcain's VP will be. I pray that Mcain doesn't pull a stupid mistake, and pick someone pro-choice. Mcain is up about 5 points in the poll. That is a good thing. I think the Saddleback church forum really help shape voters ideas.

Special Request

I love my church. It has really given me some new vitality, which I needed. I have been more energized and excited to see what God is doing. We have seen 7 saved this month. We are growing by leaps and bounds. This is my prayer, we have outgrown the present facilities. We are meeting in the basement of the pastor's parents house. We love the small church feel and hospitality shown to us. Yet, we can't continue to grow in this present location. So to all my friends, please pray God opens the right door.

Saddleback Forum

Most of you know I am an avid republican and this presidental election season is really distressing. However, there was a ray of hope Saturday night at the forum at Rick Warren's Saddleback Church. Most know that Rick Warren wrote the best selling The Purpose Driven Life. I may be one of the few who have never read his book. However what he did in this campaign was so refreshing and enlighting. In my book there was another side showed of the Maverick John Mcain. He was honest, softer Mcain. This was good to see. Obama talked more in circles, like always. He was not straight forward with his answers. He was more worried with how every one would look at him if he told his views. If Mcain keeps showing himself like he did on this forum, he may prove to be the next president. Let's just pray he picks a conserative VP.

Whats Happening!!!!

Well there has been a lot going on this week. Pastor Wayne is on vacation, and I preached both services Sunday. We had wonderful services and 2 were saved on Sunday night.

Our denomination is holding in General Assembly in San Antonio. There are some real changes coming to the COG, please pray for these men who are on the general council.

Jerrie is doing good. She came last night and picked up Robert. He will be staying with her for a few days. We swapped kids, we have Tina. Jerrie called this evening and said she went to church tonight. I can't tell you how happy this makes me.

Please continue to remember Paula and Isaiah in your prayers for there complete healing.

I got word yesterday the lead singer for Compassion, Mike Richards, wife seems to have ALS a form of MD. Please pray for this family because they also have some children with special needs.

We just got news last night that my sister-n-law Jerrie gave her life to the Lord. This has been a prayer for many years. I want to thank my God for what he is doing. Jerrie lost her son Kristopher in a house fire several years ago, and has been living with the grief and pain of this. When I spoke to her, she said it seemed like all the pain was gone and the weight had been lifted off of her. I'm telling you don't ever give up on praying for your love ones. God will save them. I ask for you to continue remembering her in your prayers along with her husband, Andrew and daughter Tina.

Tommorow is church, and Wayne is on vacation so I am preaching both services. I will give an update tommorow. God Bless,

A new week

This week is starting to look up! Paula came home from working youth camp Friday. It is so nice to have her home. We just got the van fixed the water pump went out this weekend. You should have seen all of us in our pastor's van Sunday. We had 2 great services Sunday and we have started making a CD of the singers from our church. No matter what you go through God always moves right on time.

It's been awhile

For those of you who have been stopping by and nothing new has been posted. I just went through sort of a blah phase with writing on the blog. I wull try and write something at least once a week from now on.

So what's been going on in my life lately......

We are now attending the M.I.S.S.I.O.N. Church of God in Florence, Ky. We are meeting in the basement of our pastor's parents house. This may seem odd, in the the days of big churches, however we are seeing God doing great things. Helping out in this new church has really stimulated my relationship with God like it needs to be. Just like I said I was in a blah status with the blog and was getting there spiritually. It had nothing to do with anyone else but my self. Yet now I am once agian really excitied and looking forward to what God is going to do.

Since joining this new church. Paula has had some health problems, yet now even she is doing so much better. June was a hectic month. Paula was at the ER three different times. Paula talked her doctor into doing and angiogram and they found her blockage had went from 30% to over 90% blocked. They did and angioplasty and put in a stent and she is doing wonderful. She stopped smoking and started going to college to become a professional photographer. She also wrote an article for our Denmonation's magazine. I am so proud of her.

Last week I worked KY youth camp, and I really enjoyed myself. Ian went down with me. I had 10 boys in the room. They called themselves "Steve and the 10 Amigos". Special hello to all my guys who view this blog. Paula's gone this week to Youth Camp so now I have my nine kids. Pray for me and them that Dad doesn't get to stressed out.

A New Week and the past week!!!!!!!

Last week started out great. I went to work KY Youth Camp. I really enjoyied myself. I had 10 boys in my room and for the most part had a great time. I really enjoyed Steve "Fritzy" Lombardo. He was the minister and I got to see how he had a real heart of compassion and a love for God's people. Then after coming home I have been going through some sort of transion. I have talked with Richard and Paula, and over the next several months I want to put more of an emphsis on ministry. 2 for Him are going to be looking for places to sing and I am going to be looking for open doors to preach. When God calls someone you must fulfill that call. So please pray for me as I endvour to do so.

The Fruit of the Spirti and moving.

Well, we have moved in our new house. I thank God for providing this house. It's much larger and nicer than the last one. We have been asked to buy this house, and that we might do. However, moving in a house that has been totally rehabed, trys your fruit of the Spirit. We were promised everything would be finished by July 2, then it was pushed back to July 7. We moved Saturday. The Central Air was not hooked up so with suffer without air condition till yesterday. The Rehabers tore out all the phone wires, so the phone company came and hooked up the phone yesterday, but he could not run into the house. So he told me what to do and I ran it to the house. So about 5:00 pm yesterday we got our phone/DSL on.

Richard and myself are singing at Cold Springs tonite, we are looking forward to this. So please keep us in your prayers. I am suppose to go work Youth Camp next week. So I prayer everything is done, befor I leave Sunday. The Electrian still has some work to do. I really am being tested on longsuffering, temperance, and patience this week.

I'm tried of Church Hoppers

I saw a local church's newsletter this evening. It is trying to become one of the mega-churches we all here about. In this magazine, they had an article by a former pastor who I knew. He has now left the COG and aligned himself with this major church. The last time I visited this church, I ran into about 60 people who I knew from local COG congregations. They all told me that this was there home church. I even lost a former minister of music to this church. Now, believe me I am not jealous of this church, but I am sick of uncommited people. Many of these people are looking for one of two things. They either desire to be noticed or they desire to stay in the background.

I wish would not say God led me or sent me to this church and this is where i'm to stay and work. Then up and leave to keep up with "Jones". They take the benefit of the COG time, talent, and resources to benefit some independent church.
Then the COG is now using many tv preachers to preach our conferences and campmeetings. I'm not against this, yet I am against them being called upon more than our preachers. This is wrong and I see more of this happening. Why are we having a church body, if we don't use are own people.

There has not been much time to blog lately. However, i promise I will.

For those who are interested in what's been happening with us.

Cricket just graduated from Newport High School and turned 18 years old on June 15.
We will be having her party this Saturday at the church. She has been accepted to Thomas More College and will be moving to live on campus in August. We are very proud of her.

Paula went to PA for two long weeks. She had a wonderful time seeing her adopted Mom and Dad. They are coming to Cricket's party this weekend.

I will be going to work youth camp in a few weeks and when I get back will be doing our church's kids crusade.

All the kids are doing fine.

I will try to blog more often.

Revival

Oh what a Revival. We had a wonderful Revival this week at church. The revivalist was Larry Higginbotham. He was the former pastor of Florence and Dixie Valley Church of God. He really stirred us up. I know his messages reminded me of how important my devotion to God is. You can listen to some of his messages on our church's website. I haven't been posting much, but I plan on posting more often.

What's Been Happening?

It's been a while since I have had the time to post on the blog.

First, keep Paula in your prayers, her heart stopped on March 16 and her defibulator fired, which is why she is still with us. Thank God!!!

We are going to homeschool Isaiah, as the school has trouble feeding him. The gave us a scareabout Isaiah having a seizure and rushed him to Children's Hospital. It was all a feeding problem. So with Paula's health , we don't need those type of worries. So keep Isaiah in your prayers. We are trying to get him to talk more.

I have started developing our church's website, and Paula's is doing the youth group site. Check them out at Newportchurchofgod.org.

We are trying to get ready for Easter. We also have a special request about a situation with our house. Richard and myself will be singing and I'll be ministring this Saturday at Rosedale Manor. This is going to be a busy week.

Jay Bakker and the Revolution Church

Last night, I sat and watched all 6 episodes of the show "One Punk Under God". This is a program about Jay Bakker and the Revolution Church. Jay Bakker is the son of Jim and Tammy Bakker. This young man has a unique theology. He preaches grace as an absolute, and that we should love and accept people. It sounds good, doesn't it. However, there is more to the story.

Jay Bakker's theology has a major flaw. He preaches grace, but does not preach against sin. He embraces unconditional love, but allows sin to abound in the life of his church. Jay declares homosexuality is not a sin. The Bible teaches grace and liberty, but we are not to use it as an ocassion to the flesh. We are not to practice a lifestyle of sin. Yes, God loves and has grace, but there is always commitment.

This young man has gotten burnt because of his parents flaws. He was the innocent victim of the whole ordeal. Now, we have have a young man preaching hersey, because of the judgemental church. Yes, many of us owe the Bakkers an apology for not forgiving them of there sins and mistakes. This is why we have this young man, following a gospel that is not the truth. I have a true burden for this young man, and some of his theological flaws are to combat how the "church" delt with his family.

Jay is just one outspoken example of the lost generation, how many more of the young adults from the church are like Jay. May we pray, and take a stand for the truth, never forgeting to LOVE.

Doomsday Clock

Recently the Doomsday clock was moved to five miniutes to midnight. This means that we are closer to a nuclear war, than we have been since the cold war ended. This may alarm some, but it tells me that even the secular understands that we can continue as we are without paying a price. If you would like more info check the bulletin website.

What Happened to Emphasis on the Pentecostal Blessing

Act 10:37-46 that word which was published throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John proclaimed; (38) how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and He went about doing good, and healing all those who were oppressed by the Devil, for God was with Him. (39) And we are witnesses of all things which He did, both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed Him and hanged Him on a tree; (40) but God raised Him up the third day and showed Him openly, (41) not to all the people, but to witnesses hand-picked before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He rose from the dead. (42) And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained of God to be the Judge of the living and the dead. (43) All the Prophets give witness to Him, that through His name whoever believes in Him shall receive remission of sins. (44) While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those hearing the Word. (45) And those of the circumcision, who believed (as many as came with Peter), were astonished because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out on the nations also. (46) For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.

In the above scripture, this is the first time the gift of the Holy Ghost was poured out on the Gentile believers. They were receiving the preach Word of God, and they were all baptized with the Holy Ghost, just as those on the day of Pentecost. The early church message was repent and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. We see that Peter preached this on the day of Pentecost and in Samaria. The example above, caused Gentiles to understand the Holy Ghost. It was then the apostle Paul who took up the banner of the Holy Ghost to the Gentiles.

Every example of believers being filled with the Holy Ghost, was followed by the evidence of speaking in tongues. The early church put great emphasis on the Holy Ghost. This just continued the preaching of John the Baptist and Christ. As time passed, the church allowed perversion of the gospel. It was not until the turn of the 20th Century that emphasis on the Pentecostal blessing, picked up steamed. The Azuza Street revival brought great fervor to the church. The church saw a resurgence on the baptism or gift of the Holy Ghost.

However, in todays Pentecostal church, some put all the emphasis on soul winning (which is definitely our agenda), but little emphasis is put on the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. The church in many cases has come so complacint , that they have said that speaking in other tongues is not the initial evidence of the Holy Ghost.

This saddens me. Our young people, are not seeking for the Holy Ghost baptism. We have churches that our addressing other ways to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost. We have churches that try and teach people to speak in tongues. This is a God orchestrated gift. Man is just the receiver, God does not need our help in baptizing people with the Holy Ghost. We in the church are to be careful, as not to become the church that Paul spoke of in 2 Timothy. The church that has a form of godliness, but denys the power.

May we wake up out of our sleep, and start preaching seek for the Holy Ghost. It will change our whole church outlook.

Merry Christmas

My kids have all there toys and presents. Santa came through again. Family and friends call and visit. It's Christmas! I woke up this morning, and told my savior, happy birthday. I can not forget him this Christmas, for as we know he is the reason for the season.

Then this afternoon after hearing some Christmas music, my mind fades to those who are not here. Those who have gone on to there eternal peace. Of course, I must mention my Dad. He stands in the portals of glory, waiting for our reunion. Dad was always a kid at Christmas. He wasn't big on by presents, because he didn't know what we wanted. Most of the time he just give us money. My last Christmas with my Dad was special. I bought him a gun safe and gun cleaning kit. He had to tell everybody about what his boy got him. That was just a small token for all the things he gave me. He gave many material things, but those are not as important as qualities he instilled in me. So Merry Christmas DAD!

I also thing about my Aunt Cleta. Now that we live in Newport, I think about her often. She was always the first phone call I made on Christmas. I loved this special lady. I also loved her bannana pudding.

My buddy, Eugene Carter, he is gone too. He was my best friend. He left too young. My "adopted grandpa" Ken Perkins. I loved him too.

These are just a few of the precious people that our missed this Christmas, however not to far in the future, will I see them all again. When I meet the babe born in the manager, in person.

Family & Ministry Update

Paula went to her heart doctor yesterday. The downloaded the info from her defibulator. The results were that it almost fired in November and earlier this month (that means she was seconds from having a heart attack). They are talking about sending her to the UK or Cleveland clinic. Just keep her in your prayers, we are still praying for her healing.

Our singing group 2 FOR HIM is starting to get some bookings. We ministered at Rock of Ages in Covington last night. We had a wonderful time with Bishop Jerry McCullah. He has asked us to come back and wants me to preach. I will let you know the date soon.

We had a good time at church tonight. We sang "I Got Here As Fast As I Could". Pastor Woolum, asked us to sing the song again. So I hope we were able to minister and encourage some.

Pastoral Thoughts

I been doing some thinking tonight about pastoral issues. It wasn't that long ago, that I served as a pastor. I have told some of my friends, that I think I could write a book on "How not to pastor a church." You can take all the teaching, training, and seminary learning, and it will never amount to the things you learn from the experiences you face.

Let me state, I am not thinking of pastoring again at this time. I do not feel that this is where God wants me right now. I do believe in the future I will take up pastoring again. When God opens the correct door. Yet thinking this evening, I wanted to take a moment and mention some of the things I have learned from my pastors over the years. Most of the men I will mention have great insight on how to lead a church, and have impacted my life. Most of the men I will mention have years of experience, and have learned how to deal with issues affecting the church.

I must say, over the years I have had several pastors. Please, remember I was raised in church. Some pastors of my childhood I really do not remember, but I will say they have impacted my parents life and that is part of the heirtage I have today.

The first pastor I can remember was Rev. David Denher. He pastored the Covington, Banklick Steet Church of God. He was the man preaching the morning I got saved at seven years old. I remember he loved to joke with me and he always had a smile on his face. He faced a lot of health problems and eventually retired. Years later when I saw him, he had that same smile on his face. When I get to Heaven, I'll be looking for the preacher who always smiled, Bro Denher.

The next pastor I had was Rev. Don Neal. He pastored Taylorsport Church of God. My Dad served as his associate pastored. The thing I remember the most about Brother Neal was everybody was his "buddy". That was his catch phrase. He wanted everyone to feel welcomed and loved. He always tried to encourage every body. He even encouraged a 9 year old boy to start singing in church. He is one of the reasons I sing today. He also faced health problems and eventually retired and died of cancer. Yet he never changed over the years he remained the same, sick or well throught the good time and the bad.

Next was the first pastor who really took the time to encourage this young man to step out. Rev. Lindsey Cornett, pastored the Covington church. Brother and Sister Cornett had a heart for young people, and truly encouraged me. It was at this time I started working in children's ministry, he always encouraged me to keep going. Brother Cornett pastors another church today, but everytime I see him, he still encourages me.

Bro. Donald Combs, also made an impact in my life. I learned to do things in church will integrity, dignity, and excellence. Bro. Combs always pushes for excellence and wants God's people to excell. Bro. Combs became my District Overseer, and presented me with my credentials and asked me to serve as his district youth director. This was a high honor for me, by this special man. He had left the pastorate in Covington and moved to Louisville, yet one phone call and he was there to speak at my Dad's funeral. Brother Combs is truly a pastor. He may tell you like it is, but he really love his people and has a heart of compassion. He taught me to be there when people need you, and when you serve the Lord do it with excellence.

I guess the pastor that had the most influence on me was my Dad. I served under my Dad, Jack Farrell for over 15 years. I learned so much from him, I could never express it. I get my spirituality from him. I get a great deal of my leadership skills from him. If there was one word to sum up my Dad was DEDICATION. My Dad was commited to the church. He tried to be there for everyone. He loved people, even when they didn't love back. He was a giver. He faced many health problems, but never gave up. I pray that I have the dedication and determination that he always had.

Next, I sat under two young men that taught me a great deal, Rev. Shane and Jesse Harris.
These two brothers were sold out to God. I learned so much from my time working with them. They had a heart for people and were bold about it. They were commited to Bible basics....prayer....fasting....witnessing...and genuine faith. I learned what it ment to be close to God during this time. I saw more supernatural moves of God during this time and true genuine miracles.

I did a brief stint as a pastor for about a year and half. My next pastor really took me under his wing. Pastor John Sprouse, East Bank Church of God, didn't know me from Adam, however the time I spent at East Bank prepared me for the next wave of ministry. I learned several things while serving under Bro. Sprouse. He showed me I could be real. He taught me several things about adminstration and compassion. He showed me how to deal with church conflict, without running people off. I owe a debt of gratitude to Brother Sprouse. Brother and Sister Sprouse were such an inspiration to me and Paula, they will never know what they have ment to us.

After leaving West Virginia, I started Oasis and this lasted a little over a year. This was pastoral boot camp. The last year, I have attended Newport Church of God and my pastor is M. M. Woolum. In the short time I have served under Brother Woolum, I have learned how to be postive and always encourage and uplift. I also have learned how to bring humor into the church. Brother Woolum has also faced severe health problems, but has stayed commited.

These men have imparted so much into my life. I pray that I can take the good qualities of these men and use them in my ministry. Pastoring is a hard job, I know I've done it.
Scripture teaches we must build ourselves up on holy faith and to stir up the gift of God that is within us. May we continue to follow HIS path.

2 for Him is the gospel duet that consists of Richard Lovelace and myself. We had a wonderful time at the Cold Springs COG. The Lord moved and the church was blessed. I am looking forward to more opportunities for us to minister in song.

I'm Back

3 months is too long to be off line. God has provided us a computer and so now we are back online.

Some quick info about was has been happening with us:

We moved to Newport, KY. We have a 4 bedroom house which make it so much nicer, and not nearly as congested. We are only a half a block away from our home church (this makes it really nice).

Paula's energy level and health seem to be improving. She has really been doing good.

Barbara has been accepted to Georgetown Univeristy and plans attending there in the fall.

As for myself, I am now part of a singing group...2 for HIM. It is a duet that consists of myself and Richard Lovelace. We have are first singing this Wednesday night at Cold Springs.

Just a quick thought...the move of the Holy Ghost

The Holy Ghost is often symobolized as a dove. Please read the two following scripture and my thoughts on them.

2 Kings 6:25 And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass's head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver

Matthew 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him.

I want to talk about what is happening in the "church world" right now. I know we are living in the last days and we have 2 overall types of Churches. Revelation teaches we having the Loving Church (Philedelphia) and the Lukewarm church (Ladociea). One is practicing true worship while the other has a form of godliness, a type of worship....But it is not true.

Churches are seeking for praise and worship atmosphere, but instead of having real praise they are accepting hype. The above scripture talks about a famine in Israel. Well today we have a famine of TRUE WORSHIP. You can go to church...not repent...but yet still praise God. Many bring polluted sacrifices to God, because they try to worship and praise while still having sin in there life. You can't worship the Holy God with sin clinging to you. Come out and be seperated says the Lord.

In the above scripture they were eating dove's dung. Now the dove represents the Holy Spirit. Remember, these people were eating the bowel movement of the dove. I don't want to live in the movement of the Spirit. I want to live in the move of the Spirit. Some people are statisfied with yesterday's blessing where the Holy Ghost was. I want to be where the Holy Ghost is.

Newport Church of God Fire Choir

I am so proud to be a part of our church choir. I think we do a bang up job everytime we sing. Rusty, our choir director, really tries to keep us sounding good and professional. Yet, he still places all the emphasis on ministring and anointing. We sang Friday at Ravenna COG; Sunday at our home church; and Monday at Greater Cincinnati COG. The spirit moved everytime we sang, and the church was blessed. God is so good to us. I thank God for our church, staff, andd choir. One thing you can say, we know how to have real worship not just hype.

What a service last night. Our choir sang at Ravenna COG. It was an amazing move of the Holy Ghost. There was no preaching last night, the Holy Ghost moved people to praise and prayer at the altar. (Let me say this, even though there was no said "sermon" there were words of exhortation. You should not have a service with some word from the Lord.) God really did some great work in peoples lives. Continue praying for our church and choir. We will be singing tommorrow at church and Monday at Greater Cincinnati COG.

Feelin' Poorly

The Kids started school WED. PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We only have Kassie and Joseph left at home now. They start school the 28 Mon-Thurs. That leaves me and Paul at home by ourselves for the first time in 7 years. We never had free time.

Paula is feeling much better. She sang at church Thurs, and that was great. She has not smoked in 3 weeks and her heart rate is better. She has felt like cooking (THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!) and cleaning around the house. I really believe God is touching her.

Our choir will be singing in Ravenna, Ky this Friday night. I am looking forward to this, Bro. Cornett, who pastors the church was my pastor when I was a kid. I think I will really enjoy myself. We also are singing at Greater Cincinatti Church of God Monday the 28. So really prayer for our church choir--Newport Church of God Fire Choir.

My Throat and back to school

I met with my gastorintestial doctor today. I thought I was having another upper GI endoscopy. She related to me, because of the inflammation of my esphogus, I would have to wait another 3 weeks. I go back on the 12th of September. Good News, the biopsy was negative for cancer, however I do have Barrett's Diease.

The kids go back to school tommorrow. We will only have Joseph and Kassie at home. They start school the 28, then all the kids are gone. The house will be quiet.

The Holy Ghost Fell at Church tonight

We had one of those old fashioned gulley washers tonight. The Spirit was really upon the service tonight. The anointing was powerful. Bro. Woolum, didn't get to speak, there was a message in tounges and prophecy. People filled the alters and 4 got saved. However, that is not was astonished me. Service was dismissed, while people were still praying for those who needed to leave. What amazed me was, that more than half the church stayed and wanted to be in the service, feeling the Spirit. That's what church is about. People loving and caring for each other, enough to pray one for another.

I've been wanting to post this, but I was waiting till after I preached last night.

We live in a world of mega-churches, politically correct and inclusive gospel, and a non-literal interpertation of the Bible. God-fearing people are allowing current culture to dictate this new liberal thinking. I have always adheared to a classic pentecostal theology. I consider myself a true fundelmentalist, evangelical Christian. Yet, I am now being astonished by how many classic evangelicals are accepting this heresy.

Classic pentecostal theolgy takes the Word of God as inerrant, immutable, and literal. That is not to say that there is some of the Bible that contain symbolic and figurative passages (Daniel, Revelation, etc.). However for the most part, I take a literal view of scripture. The Genesis story is not a parable, but an actual story. I may raise some eyebrows with some of progressive stances in the church. When it comes to scripture though, I will stand with what the world calls, hard liners and fanatics. I will not change my stance on scripture.

I will not adhere to the gospel of inclusion, beliving that all will be saved. That there is no literal hell. That no matter how you live, ultmatly everyone goes to heaven. What a farce. This week even Billy Gramham has embraced a non literal view of scripture and inclusive gospel theolgy according to Newsweek magazine. The writer of the article may have misrepresented Dr. Grahams comments, but I have seen no clarifacation of such.

Gallup poll, released a statistic that only 28% of Americans, belive the Bible to be literal. This gives new meaning to Jesus saying narrow is the way that leadeth to eternal life and only few will find it.

I want to end with a scripture PSALM 119:60

Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgements endureth for ever.

August is here....and its hot...General Assembly is over

Well, August is here are so are the upper 90's. Looks like this month is really going to be hot.

Paula's out of the hospital, they have her on some new meds. She seems to be calmer, I'm still a nervous wreck. My blood pressure is up, and my patience is down. I am sure with God's help and prayer, everything will get back to normal.

School will be starting in a few weeks for my two oldest kids...Barbara (senior) and Robert (8th). We are going to home school the rest of the kids. So please remember my patience level. Please don't pray patience for me, just pray I can calmly, and successfully handle these situations.

Ok, to the COG Assembly. I didn't get to go, but I followed everything through the internet. I think the Media department did a fair job at covering the Assembly. I enjoyed both of Brother McGuire messages, esp. Saturdays. I don't think Bro. McGuire was programmed. Sometimes the general officals come of so programmed it makes me sick. The music seemed to be within my style and I enjoyed it as well.
I thought the reduction of tithes should have passed the GA. I was glad to see major changes to the Council of Eighteen. I love the fact that Bill Isaacs is on there. He is one of the upcoming men of the COG.

Bro. Tim Hill moved up too 2nd assitant GO, I really enjoy his ministry and I think he will do good things for the COG. I was surprised that the agenda of women bishops didn't come up. I was really glad that the realignment of the ministry creditinals was held off. I would like to advance in the ministry before the next assembly and then I may go back to pastoring.

Speical Prayer Request for Paula

My Take on Israel and Lebanon

Scripture tells us that we are to pay for the peace of Jerusalem. We know that God is going to protect his people and his land. Lebanon, is doing no more than promoting terrorism. Hezbollah, needs to release its Israeli prisoners.

Of course, we know that scripture tells us these things would happen. Let's just pray that this ends soon.

What a week!

Well the week started off crazy. I was scheduled to have an endoscopy for my throat Monday. It was rescheduled for Wednesday afternoon. My esophagus was so inflamed, that they could not dialate my throat. My doctor also did a biopsy so I'll get the results of that in a few weeks. I have to go back on August 15 to have my throat dialated. I also have been diagnosed with Barrett's esophagus. I have been told I have to change my diet....so please pray for me. I felt so bad Thursday, I didn't make it to church.

I visted a church this evening, it wasn't my favorite type of church. It was a small church, and they have no structure to there service. If you ever visted a small country church, this is the feel. Service overall was good. However, the pastor opened up the service for testimonies at the end of service. Now don't get me wrong, I love real testimonies, we now call them praise reports. I was raised in a church where my Dad, would always ask for testimonies from the congregation.

There are always these wonderful people who give more glory to the devil than to God, and go on and on for ever in there testimony. This brother tonight had been facing some serioous problems, but took up over half and hour to share his pity party with the church. If it doesn't edify the church throw it out. If it doesn't build up the kingdom of God...get rid of it. Just one of my pet peeves.

One more thought, people who say Glory to God and Hallelujah when they speak.
A person tonight said, "My fiends's son commited sucide...Glory to God..Hallelujah."
I relize that we need to praise God, but come on these words have lost there meaning and have become filler words.

Paula's Dr. Appointment

They did a CPX Test on Paula. It is sort of a stress test, to determine how much oxgen is going to her muscles. She scored a 14 which according them is not good. They are scheduling a sleep study for Paula, so she can be tested for sleep apena.
They told Paula not to do anything, they even told her not to go to church. She told them she will go tp church if she feels like it.

According to the Docs, Paula is a good canidate for a heart transplant. It could take several months of testing before Paula gets on the list, but it looks like this is the route we are going.

What's going on....

I ask that you remember our family in prayer over the next week.

Paula has to go to the transplant doctor Thursday and have a stress test to decided where she will place on the transplant list.

I have to go to the gastrologist, Monday to have my throat streched.

My sister Rita has surgery next Tuesday on her parathyroid.

Have you ever noticed that God's people seem to fight sickness alot. I believe in many cases it is a form of oppression against God's people. We believe in healing, but many times fail to see it happen in our lives. Jesus was stripped for our healling. Matthew 10:1 tells us through Christ we have power and authority over sickness. I have been doing something different in my prayer life. I have not been praying for God to heal a particular illness I have, I have been praying for divine health. I am assured God can keep me healthy.

Try it pray for divine health, wealth, and what ever else you need in your life. Remember Romans 8:28 tells us God is working all things for our good.

Guess who stopped me this morning.....

Jehovah's Witnesses stopped me this morning. I was outside talking to a friend, I noticed out of the corner of my eye 4 people get out of a car with briefcases. I instantly knew who they were. Normally, I just ignore these people. (You may object to that, but scripture teaches to not even bid false prophets Godspeed.)
In the past, I have debated scripture with these people, and they won't recieve the truth so in most cases its casting my pearls before the swine. This may be a tough statement, but some people will believe a lie and be damned.

Two nicely dressed ladies, started to my door, and I stopped them. They said they wanted to talk to me. I proceeded to tell them I was pentecostal minister, and I new who they were. She asked me if I wanted some of her watchtower magazines, of course I told her no. I explained I did not agree with there doctrine. They persisted on talking to me. I then went on to say, your doctrine says that salvation is by good works, when scripture teaches it is by grace you are saved, through faith...not of works. This lady insisted on reading passges of the Bible from Matthew. One was Matthew 24:14 "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." The other was Christ great comission form Matthew 28:19,20 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen"

I proceeded to tell her I was familier with both passages. The other lady interjected they were doing the work of the gospel sharing the good news. I told the ladies that the message the were speaking was not the truth of the gospel. I told them no scripture is a priviate interpertation, and there doctirne was not the truth of the gospel. It was Christ death and ressurection that purchased our salvation, and only by the shedding of Christ blood can we find salvation. I guess, at this point they got tried of our conversation. The one lady said she was doing the work of God, and it was not her job or mine to judge. They then said goodbye.

I got to thinking later, and I checked out there website. I knew several of the false doctrines they believe. One of there false doctrines is that Christ is not equal to God, and the denial of the Trinity. They also do not believe Christ was crucified on a cross, it was a stake. The deny the exsistance of hell as a place, there version of hell is the grave. The deny the bodily ressurection of Christ. The profess he was only a spirit. The believe in soul sleeping.

Yet, what really got me to thinking was there amennialist view of the last days. I have always known this was there belief, but it has never hit like it has today. I guess it is because of a former associate of mine, who ascribed to this belief. It is amazing to me how many good people can be decieved and led astray to believe hersey. '

I am glad I am assured of what I believe. I am glad I can defend my faith. I thank God for being raised to believe the gospel.

I think this morning I put Jude 1:3 in action.

"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints."

Something Spiritual....The Big Picture

So many of us, are always seeing what is happening now. We only see what is happening from our viewpoint. However, scripture teaches us, that God's ways are higher than our ways. In the midst of your storm or trial, all you may see is the problem. The old gospel song says "Ride Out Storm". Hold on for dear life and don't give up. Try to enjoy the ups and downs of your life. Like Paul, say what ever state I'm in I am content. God sees the big picture, we don't. Remember Romans 8:28 teaches all things work together for good to them that love the Lord, who are called according to his purpose. It doesn't matter what your going through, God sees a great outcome for you.

I had a great friend in the ministry, who ever time I say him, told me God was doing great things in my life. He has gone to his reward, but his words of encouragement live on in my life. He knew there was a bigger picture I didn't see, yet he knew God was working on my behalf.

I thank God, for those who have encouraged me on this road. Sometimes the pressures of life get you down, but God is faithful. Faith causes me to put my life in God hands, and when I don't know where I'm headed, trust Jesus.

I went to see Superman Returns last night. It was a little slow getting started, but once it did, it really came out be a good movie. Kevin Spacey was great as Luthor. Brandon Routh did an outstanding job as Superman. His portyal of Clark Kent, was a real tribute to Christopher Reeve.

The Last few days,

The last few days have been hectic. We had to rush Isaiah to the hospital Tuesday night, he was having some problems cough up phlem and it looked as if he was having a seizure. This of course, to a toll on Paula and myself. Today, we had several appointments and by the time I got home, I didn't have time to make it to church. So that aggravates me.

I want to say I appreciate all the prayers that you all offer up for my family. I can sure feel them. God is able to do far above whatever we ask, think, or imagine. I hold on to this promise, beliving God is going to move for my family.

There is a new trend that is distrubing me. I have noticed of late that our churches are becoming full of effeminate men. This may not bother many, but it is starting to become a hinder in our churches. I'm not talking about pink shirts and flashy jewelry. I'm talking about acting like those of the homosexual persuasion.
If we are men...then be men. We can still be compassionate and loving without acting effeminates.

I'll be the first to welcome, all people to our church. Yet, leadership is a different thing. I meet more youth pastors and minister of music that lean to this life style. I think this is leading our young men down a bad road.

People lets pray for our young people, that they will have role models who will not compromise to please the world.

BELLEVUE - It all started when Jonathan Estep was 8 years old.

"I began to hear this sound coming from this child," says his father, Paul
Estep. "It was wonderful."

After listening to his father sing, Jonathan began to harmonize with his
father's voice.

"It just sounded right," Jonathan says.

That's how it's always been for Jonathan. It sounds right. Or he feels his
way through it. Or it just happens.

That's how he plays guitar, bass and mandolin.

He feels it. He needs minimal instruction.

But if he ever needs it, Jonathan, now 15, has his father, a classically
trained pianist, to help him.

Together, the two form half of the bluegrass gospel group Revival Ridge.

For the last six years, the foursome has traveled all over the South and
Midwest spreading God's word and playing their own form of bluegrass.

"We don't have that twang you would normally associate with bluegrass,"
Estep says. "But we love the music."

After playing about three gigs every weekend for the past six years, Revival
Ridge has gotten a break.

They will be the warm-up band before a Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder
concert at 7:30 p.m., July 27 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

"One of our band members went on a tour of the Ryman a couple of years ago
and we were able to give (Skaggs) some of our music," Estep says. "He heard
us and said he wanted us to come perform. We hope this will be the start of
something big for us down in Nashville."

FLORIDA TO FAZOLI'S

Along with members Jeff Blackburn, of Georgetown, and Billy Morgan, of
Guilford, Ind., Revival Ridge has traveled as far as Fort Lauderdale, Fla.,
to play a show.

Then again, you may have seen them at Fazoli's restaurant in Florence.

"For some reason they just love us there," Estep says.

John Dowell, who chooses talent for the Ryman Auditorium, said bluegrass is
an increasingly competitive genre of music, with more groups vying for a
sliver of public attention. But he's liked what he's heard of the band.

"I am always looking for talent," Dowell said in an e-mail. "And they are
just unique and original enough, while maintaining tradition, to qualify for
playing our Plaza Parties."

In 2000, when the bass player in Estep's old band the King's Strings decided
to quit, he replaced him with Jonathan, his 8-year-old son. Jonathan learned
to a play stand-up bass in about a week. But he had to stand on a milk crate
to reach the top of the instrument.

Jonathan played bass admirably, and, when that band broke up, Paul and
Jonathan continued on their own. With mom Nancy home-schooling the children
(the family is rounded out by 11-year-old Jessica and 4-year-old Jenna),
Jonathan was free to roam the country with his father.

Just like that other parent-child group the Judds.

"I always said there is nothing better than the times when we pack up our
camper and we go," Estep says. "Those are the best. Just me and him."

The Esteps put more than 3,500 miles on the camper in April. Last year, they
logged more than 35,000. After 97 concerts last year, they have already
played 61 this year.

And it's a good thing.

In March 2005, Paul Estep lost his job at a bank when it was bought by
another company.

Suddenly, the band became his only source of income.

LESS THAN NORMAL

Ron Cornett says there's nothing like "family harmony."

"When two members of a family sing together, it's unlike any other kind of
harmony," said the 51-year-old, who's played bluegrass all his life. "So
when I heard of them about a year ago, I was attracted to that."

Cornett, who a year ago founded the Northern Kentucky Bluegrass Music
Association, said he liked hearing the group's gospel sound. When it came
time to choose 15 bands for an upcoming festival in Sparta, he chose Revival
Ridge as one of his headliners.

"They're working on building up their name," Cornett said. "I know most
everybody in this area and I think they can go a long way. Jonathan is a
young man with so much ability. He is fantastic. For his age, he can go as
far as he wants to go."

Still, the industry is tough, he said. And focusing purely on gospel - while
not playing bars, for instance - could hold the band back.

"Bluegrass is very competitive," he said. "There are so many good bands. And
I mean good bands."

After dabbling with recording in the past, Revival Ridge will be releasing
what Estep calls the band's first CD "that sounds what I want it to sound
like." The CD - a mix of originals and covers - should be ready in late
June. Estep sings and plays guitar. Jonathan sings and plays bass.

More than a year since Estep being laid off, the family is not only
surviving, but thriving on the income generated from the band, as well as
from giving music lessons on the side, Estep says.

Still, it's made for a less-than-normal environment for Jonathan.

"I've just never really known anything like what you would call 'normal,' "
Jonathan says. "But I love what I'm doing."

His dream is to someday play in a large bluegrass band or form his own.

"He's had to grow up quickly," Estep says. "He always said he could do it
and he was right."

Estep says they both got their musical talent from his father, who was also
in a bluegrass band.

And the fever could be spreading, as the girls of the family are beginning
to show they can sing, too.

Revival Ridge could someday expand to include their voices.

"I'm so happy that we can do what we do," Estep says. "That's a true
godsend. We are blessed."

His looks have improved since I met him, but he still has a long way to go. He emailed me and asked me to post his pic on my site....I have always been considerate so I thought I would post his pic.

What a Day

Yesterday was an eventual day. We took the kids to Coney Island. Needless to say, I understand I am not a teenager anymore. My body aches prove that this morning. The kids had a wonderful time, and I managed not to get sick on any rides. Tired and wore out we got home about 10:00 last night. Paula rode 3 rides and went to the van with Jospeh and JJ about an hour before we left. Overall I thought she did pretty good. Pray she will have the energy to make it to church Sunday.

I was woke up last night about 1 AM and our cat...Butterscotch had 5 kittens. They are cute, but it was too early. Going to a birthday party later today.

Tomorrow is Sunday, so I'll post something spiritual tommorrow.

Paula Update

Paula had an appointment with the UC Transplant doctors yesterday. They changed some of her medicine and scheudled her for a CPX test. This is a stress test to see where she will go on the transplant list. Paula has been feeling very drained. She hasn't really been able to do anything. She felt so bad again last night she couldn't go to church. Please prayer for her that she will get some energy to be able to do what she wants too. I don't like to see my wife upset, because she feels to bad to go to church.

Paula's Transplant Update

Today, Paula met with the Transplant Doctors at UC for the first time. Evidently she will have to have a transplant (unless the Lord heals her). They have put her on some new meds. She has another appointment this Thursday with the her Doctors as well. They are continuing to evaluate her. They will be testing her very soon to see where she will place on the transplant list. Please continue to remember her and us in prayer. I'll update you Thursday on what Dr. Naz tells us.

Jewish Museum

A couple of days ago, we took are family to Hebrew-Union College in Cincinnat to see there museum of Jewish history including the holocost. It was a great experience. They had ancient artifacts dating back to the time of Abraham. Yet the most riviting part, was the holocost exhibt. If you are in our area, I urge you to visit it.

In Tribute

I wanted to post this yesterday, but had trouble with posting.

I want to pay tribute to a couple of special veterns who have been promoted to glory.

First, my grandfather, Charles Shay. He fought in the pacfic campagin of WWII for the Army. He was shot in the back, and sent to France, where he carried out his tour of duty. He was awarded the purple heart. He wouldn't talk about his experiences, but I cherish the idea that he fought for freedom.

Second, a spiritual grandfather, Ken Perkins. He fought in the European campagin. He was in Germany when it was liberated. He played for the Army baseball team. Bro. Perkins, was also a hero in the faith to me. I felt honored to have service with him in his home the Sunday, before he died...I cherish that memory. I also got to preach his funeral. He was truly a hero in my book.

Thank God for our military.

Throughout our history, the men and women who have worn the uniform of the United States have placed the security of our Nation before their own safety. America will be forever grateful for their service and sacrifice. On Memorial Day, we honor those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

Defending the ideals of our Nation has required the service and sacrifice of those from every generation. From Valley Forge, across Europe and Asia, and in Afghanistan and Iraq, courageous Americans have given their lives so that others could live in freedom. These Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen took an oath to defend America, and they upheld that oath with bravery and decency. They have liberated the oppressed, spread freedom and peace, and set a standard of courage and compassion for our Nation. All who enjoy the blessings of liberty live in their debt.

My Church

I wanted to take this post and testify about my home church Newport Church of God.
I'm not doing this for brownie points, I'm doing this because I really enjoy being a part of this church.

I have been in church all my life. I don't want to take away from these other churches, some have been enjoyable. None of them, have effected me the way Newport has. Yes, I have pastored 3 churchs and serve as assistant pastor in many others. Though, I have had the spiritual rest, I have felt since November since we started at Newport.

I believe this is because of several reasons. First, my pastor Bro. Woolum. He makes our church which is large, have the feel of a small church. He puts an emphasis on friendship and love for one another. His leadership, leads to my second reason. We have an open atmosphere in our church. People feel welcome! Third, we preach the truth. Fourth, we believe in worship. Lastly, but proably the most important we are seeing souls saved. In all the ministries of our church we have seen over 80 souls saved since January.

I thank God I have aligned myself with such a church.

Oprah on Auschwitz

I'm not an Oprah fan, but I watched her special on Auschwitz prision camp. It was really moving. I did not know all the artifacts that were in the memorial. For more info check her site. Oprah.com

The murder and torture that happened in those camps is unbelievible. I pray nothing like this ever happens again. Yet I see the beginnings of the same thing happening in Iran. (Check my other blog)

This is truly sad.....Thanks to all the soliders who fought and our fighting to keep our world free of terror and horror.

BATON ROUGE, La. — The shooting started about the time church services were supposed to end. Five family members were killed and another was shot in the back of the head but survived.

A 25-year-old was charged with five counts of first-degree homicide in the shootings at a Baton Rouge church on Sunday, accused of opening fire at his wife's two grandmothers, grandfather, great aunt and cousin, then killing his wife at a nearby apartment complex. Police said they did not know suspect Anthony Bell's motive.

"I am very mad, and I am mad at the devil, because he had something to do with this," said Frankie Smith, a relative of the victims by marriage.

Police Chief Jeff LeDuff said Sunday was "one of the worst days in the history of our city."

Police identified the dead as Erica Bell, 24, Leonard Howard, 78, Gloria Howard, 72, Deloris McGrew, 68, and Darlene Mills, 47.

Erica Bell's mother, church pastor Claudia Brown, was wounded and in serious condition, police said, but would not provide further details. Her son, Jeffrey Howard, said she had been shot in the back of the head. She gave investigators a statement about the shooting, according to a police affidavit.

Bell faces a count of attempted first-degree murder in Claudia Brown's shooting. He also faces a second-degree kidnapping charge, because he allegedly abducted three of Erica Bell's children, released two and had the third with him when he was arrested, police said.

Investigators did not know the motive for the shooting at The Ministry of Jesus Christ church.

"This is senseless. This is a total waste of human life," LeDuff said.

In an interview, Jeffrey Howard said Anthony and Erica Bell had had some "domestic trouble" in the past. Howard hinted that Anthony Bell used drugs and had "smoked away" what money the couple had.

The small church shares space in an old warehouse with a guitar shop in a nonresidential area of Baton Rouge. Jeffrey Howard described the ministry as a "full gospel-type church" that often paid bills for parishioners who were having money problems.

Bell is believed to have entered and opened fire with a handgun shortly before the Sunday service was to end, about 10 a.m.

"To the best of my knowledge, the service was ongoing when this happened," LeDuff said.

After shooting five people, Bell fled with his wife and with three children, including an infant, police said. The two older children were found safely at a residence.

Police said Bell called 911 to report a shooting; responding officers found him at an apartment complex, holding the child. His wife's body was inside the car he had been driving, police said. Bell did not resist arrest.

Bell left a police holding facility with hands and feet cuffed, without shirt or shoes, in blue jeans shorts.

This is sad. It is a shame when even the church we attend is not safe. I realize this family had severe problems, but to see this happen at a church grieves my soul.
As children of God we need to uphold these precious saints in our prayers. These stories are getting to prevelent and common.

Da Vinci Code

I figured it was time to put some info about the Da Vanci Code on the Blog.
The movie comes out today. I'm sure it will be multi-million dollor box office hit. Even though the critics are rating this film poorly, it will be seen as an overwhelming success. This film is a far cry from the success of the movie The Passion of Christ a couple years ago.

I'm sure most of you know the premise of the movie, claiming that Christ was not divine and married Mary Magadelene, had a daughter. That the Catholilc church came up with this coverup. Da Vinci encoded secrets in his paintings reveling this truth.

All of these is fiction. People will believe what they want. The skeptics will use thsis to discredit the Bible.

Christ will stand. This is no more than a seducing spirit giving hersey.

Don't let this move shake you.
